Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students I teach come from a variety of different economic backgrounds, with 100% of students receiving free lunch. Our school is also one of the most ethnically diverse schools in San Diego. Students speak a multitude of languages including English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Somali, and Burmese.
Our school is home to students that strive to be confident, respectful, responsible, and healthy thinkers.
I am kindly asking for your support in helping us as we continue distance learning.
My Project
Readers in 3rd grade all come with a unique set of reading skills to build upon. Learning to be a better reader means lots of reading practice. Often countless hours are spent trying to find text then planning and copying materials for students to use.
Boost reading comprehension skill sets are ready-to-use small-group teaching center materials.
The set includes 8 teaching kits that each focus on specific comprehension skills—from identifying key details and story elements to retelling the story to demonstrate understanding. For each skill, you get a tabbed storage pocket with a step-by-step lesson plan on front and a reproducible activity on back, plus 6 copies of a fiction or nonfiction reading passage and 12 vocabulary cards. They also include easy to follow lesson plans that allow passages to be read with up to 6 students…there's even vocabulary cards to reinforce key words and prompts to answer text-dependent questions. These activities all ensure comprehension!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
