This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach an amazing group of 63 fifth graders each with their own unique learning style. I love the energy they each bring to the classroom and I would like to provide them with an outlet for this energy allowing them to engage in sensory regulation with fidgets.
Fidget toys can play a crucial role in supporting students' focus and concentration in the classroom.
For many students, particularly those with attention-related challenges, sitting still for long periods can be difficult. When used correctly, fidget toys give students a way to stay engaged with their work, which can lead to improved academic performance and overall classroom behavior.
Beyond attention issues, fidget toys can also support emotional regulation. For students who experience anxiety, stress, or frustration in the classroom, having a small, tactile item to manipulate can provide a calming effect, helping them self-soothe during challenging moments. When used appropriately, fidget toys create a more inclusive and supportive classroom atmosphere, where students are better equipped to succeed both academically and socially.
