My Students
Hi, I am a speech pathologist in a school for children with special needs (specifically Autism) in Brooklyn, NY. My students are amazing and have been doing the best they can with this difficult situation we have been in due to the closing of schools. They benefit from daily routines, sensory diets, and social interactions with their peers.
In the fall it is uncertain if we will be in the physical school building or continuing remote learning.
My students have difficulty with their expressive language , receptive language, social/pragmatic skills, and feeding skills. They have trouble focusing on the screen due to sensory issues and benefit when there are engaging activities such as books, BOOM cards, movement activities or music-related lessons. My students are so deserving of having the opportunity to have more digital learning resources with this Teacher pay teachers gift card.
My Project
Hi! This has been a difficult year for all students but virtual learning is especially a challenge for my special needs students. Their daily routines and sense of prediction has been disrupted which makes this time even harder for them and their families at home.
Social skills is one of the areas where my students with autism struggle with normally and it is even harder for them to work on these skills through virtual learning.
There are some great resources that could help my students to work on these skills virtually on Teachers pay Teachers or BOOM cards. BOOM cards help to keep my students engaged and have more of an interaction with the material we are working on. Any little bit helps and is greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance
