My students need boomwhackers in order to start composing music.

My Students
My students work hard to produce and experience great music. They need all the resources possible to obtain great musicianship. Most of my students come into class not knowing much about how music connects with them. I try to guide them down the path to understand how music connects with them and the world. I want music to be a life-time learning experience for my students. I hold them to high expectations, but I also try to offer them an outlet to escape from problems they may be having.
My Project
Students only see me every other day for one semester (equivalent to a quarter). Part of my job as a music educator is to expose them to composition. With the amount of time given, I do not have a lot of time to expose them to composition for two months. Boomwhackers would give them hands-on experience to live through the music terms that I teach. They would be able to experience form, rhythm, melody, and make composition decisions with the boomwhackers.
Because I instruct in an urban school, I see a lot of students with emotional problems.
Boomwhackers would give them a chance to release energy without violence. It would make them feel successful in music as well because the boomwhackers are a simplistic item to use in a middle school classroom but composing is a complicated subject for a young student. It would challenge them intellectually but they would produce something they could be very proud of.
