it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Today a reader, tomorrow a leader." - Margaret Fuller. In my fifth grade classroom, I am working on helping students become better readers. This book will not only teach them crucial comprehension skills, but great social skills as well!
I teach a large group of amazing fifth graders who come from very diverse backgrounds.
The majority of my students are bused to school from all areas of Los Angeles. Despite the fact that some of my students are dealing with many of life's harsh realities at home, my students come to school eager to learn and work towards a better future.
My Project
I am requesting thirty three copies of Wonder by RJ Palacio. We will read this book as a class and learn different reading strategies and skills for reading text. This is a high interest level book that the kids can relate to and will learn a lot from. Topics of diversity and acceptance of others' differences will also help my students socially.
