This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As an ELA teacher, nothing makes me happier than a student asking for recommendations regarding personal reading material. It is these conversations that allow me insight into student interest and the ability to build a classroom culture that centers on curiosity, exploration, critical thinking, and engagement.
A classroom library would help my students continue to build upon their literacy skills, while engaging with texts of individual interest.
Furthermore, access to a classroom library would allow for students to engage in peer building activities (book clubs, book talks, reviews, providing recommendations) and text-to-text/world connections.
