My Project
For my DonorsChoose Project "Bookshelf Filler" I have focused my wishlist on books for my classroom. As a new teacher I have very few books for my students to read and enjoy and I want to fix that! Reading is so essential in life and I want my students to learn to enjoy it. Having these fun interesting books part of my class will help students begin to enjoy reading at a young age. As I created this list of books I focused on books that either teach life lessons, will be enjoyable, or help the class understand history better. You will see some classics, such as Percy Jackson and Fable haven, that I cannot wait to see my students enjoy. You might also see some new, unfamiliar, or easier books. These too will be so helpful to have in my class and will enrich my classroom.
Although books are my primary focus, I added a few odds and ends that I would also like to explain.
The first being birthday supplies. I want students to feel seen and loved in my classroom, and what better way to do that then to have birthday celebrations. I have included small gifts for my students and a poster to write their names and birthdays on. These few things will allow our class to celebrate individuals throughout the year.
The few final things I included are a laminator, large post it notes, stress balls, and a fidget for students feet. These tools will be helpful in managing class and creating content for the students.
That is my project summed up in a few paragraphs! But it only scratches the surface of how much these things will help me, as the teacher, and my amazing students.
