Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember when you were first learning to read and wanted to read everything? Those are my students. They want to read everything. In fact, they have already read every book on our library shelf.

I teach 22 wonderful 2nd graders in a high-needs school.

Ninety-eight percent of my school participates in the free or reduced lunch program. Many of my students do not have books at home. The majority of my students have not been read to before starting school. I am starting over in the classroom, and our library shelves are bare.

My Project

These awesome children's books such as Splat the Cat and The Napping House will be used for so many purposes. These books will help fill up a treasured classroom library. These awesome books will also be used for story time, silent reading, Accelerated Reader quizzes, and for take-home reading. This wonderful children's literature will teach new vocabulary, comprehension, and reading fluency.

A donation to this project is going to put wonderful books in the small hands of young eager students.

These books will introduce them to new places and characters. These books will fill our library shelves and help make my students life long readers.
