My Students

My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!

Curious, enthusiastic, and creative; my students are eager to immerse themselves in any kind of challenge.

These students come from a middle class community that is becoming more and more diverse. The students and families are no strangers to hard work and the families are very involved in their child's education.

My Project

Since switching from to third grade, I have been scouring thrift stores and library book sales to fill up my classroom library with books that will get my third graders excited about reading. My students will engage in independent, choice reading during the day and they will be given the opportunity to "check-out" books, graphic novels, poetry etc. from my personal classroom library so that they can learn that reading can be enjoyable, relaxing, and help them learn more about themselves, others, and their interests.

Third grade is a crucial time for developing students' interests and respect for literature.

Reading about the adventures, struggles, and learning of just one character that they relate to can change the way growing students views themselves, others, and the world around them. I would like the books in my library to help students develop confidence, empathy, and curiosity for the different people and experiences of our world and most importantly, will help them find the joy in reading!
