This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is an elementary school that serves students from kindergarten to 5th grade. We are located in the middle of a diverse and dense urban population in Los Angeles, California. My students love learning and get excited about learning daily.

We are a Title I school that serves low-income families from different cultural backgrounds and diverse needs.

Learning is our focus and finding creative ways to learn about important subjects is always a priority. I recently moved grade levels therefore there is a need for high interest text to keep my students engaged in reading.

My Project

A classroom library can never be full enough. We just began the school year and students were eager to get their hands on the books available in our classroom library. My students love reading and high interest books keeps their reading fire burning. As we began our independent reading routines students were asking about certain titles and authors that I don't currently have in our classroom library. The fact that my students personally asked for the authors and titles requested warmed my heart because they want to read these books.

Getting students excited about reading will provide a long lifestyle of reading.

Trends may come and go but reading will always be an essential skill in every child's education. Let support their desire to read by providing them with the books they are interested in. Please help me provide these titles for them. We appreciate you as much as we appreciate our books!
