My Students
I am a second grade teacher in Pennsylvania. My classroom is made up of 30 eager second graders. I also have a wide range of reading and math abilities in my classroom. I am the teacher with the ESL friendly classroom. This is my second year having the ESL classroom, and I would like to accommodate more students that speak different languages. My reading levels range from pre-kindergarten to fifth grade. It's important that I read with these children every day in order to get them on grade level by the end of the year. Many of my students get free or reduced price lunch , and all these children love coming to school.
My Project
The donations to this project will make a difference in my second grade classroom. This will be my second year teaching ESL students and I need the necessary materials to help them succeed. Many of the students entering my classroom do not speak English and come from different cultures. One one to get the students and parents involved is by having bilingual books. Children can read the spanish version and when they look on the other page it is also written in english. I would also like to send these home to get parents involved so they can listen to the stories being read.
My second grade students need a classroom sweeper that will last.
On our carpet that we read, write and do math, and it needs to stay clean and fresh. Our new bilingual books would be a great addition to our clean classroom rug. We do everything on this rug. Centers, story time, read alouds, show and tell, and more. These cordless sweepers allow the rug to be cleaned everyday and jobs assigned to let the children help.
