Books to Open the Door for Imagination and Adventure!
My students need books to have a classroom library with a variety of texts to help improve fluency, and Chromebooks to allow them to use technology in the classroom.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My dream is that during this school year, each and every seventh grader would find a book that they connect to. Dumbledore said, "It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities." I hope that through choosing to read, my students' reading abilities will grow!
Many of my students have never read a book that they loved.
The school where I teach is Title I; it has a population that is predominately minority and has a high percentage of English language learners. The school is undergoing a transformation to better connect with students in teaching them responsibility, life skills, and providing them with a rigorous education. I am just starting to get to know them, and hope that these books will be a bridging point where they allow me to see more glimpses into their lives.
My Project
With these resources, my students would be able to have a variety of texts at their finger tips. From poetry to informational to historical fiction, I hope to have books for every type of reader. These books might be completely new to them and push them outside their comfort zone. There are also some playaways that will allow students to listen as they read along. This would allow students to build fluency as they hear a book read to them, which is especially necessary for English language learners. There are also several Chromebooks which I foresee my students using for working in groups, reading e-books, and learning how much reading takes place on the Internet. It will bring the 21st century into our reading classroom.
As a first year teacher, I am still trying to set up my classroom library.
This would provide books to my students that I can not afford on my own. It will be a variety of resources that can be used not just for this year, but many years to come. My students will have access to books in their own classroom that they can take home to extend the learning there. They may not have a public library card, but these items will allow them to take books home and read with their families.
