Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are excited about learning! They love to collaborate, explore and learn new things. They especially enjoy reading, science and technology! They are kind children who are very thoughtful and caring. They are inquisitive learners and it is a real pleasure and privilege to be their teacher.
My students are low income and are from disadvantage backgrounds.
My students attend an inner city school with limited resources. Our school does an amazing job at sharing resources, yet materials are still scarce.
My Project
These books would help build a love for reading in my students. My students will be using these books to learn different literacy skills like analyzing themes, comparing and contrasting, and more about the world around them. Many of the books have great encouraging life messages that will be a positive influence in my students' lives. For example, Where the Red Fern Grows will teach my students to work hard for your dreams and never give up.
Books open up a whole new world to the reader and show them new places, ideas and people.
By funding this project, you will be enriching my students' lives and providing the opportunity to experience a different world without leaving the classroom! You will be helping them accomplish their goal of learning two languages: English and Spanish! As a dual immersion classroom, having books in both languages is vital for my students' academic success!
