Books to Inspire

Help me give my students new books with characters that they can relate to. When my students see characters that look like them, they are more likely to choose that book to read.

My Project

All of my students want to read books with characters that they can relate to. My goal is to expand the diversity of characters in my classroom library. These books will be added to my classroom library and will make the selection of books more diverse. My goal is for all students to see themselves in books. When they can relate to a character, they are more likely to become interested in the story and continue to read.

I teach in an inner city school and have students that are resilient and intelligent.

These children do not always have access to books where they can "see themself" as the main character.
