Books to Inspire a Love of Learning

My students need books for our classroom! The books I've chosen are related to the theme that we will be studying for the week.

My Students

This year, my kindergarten class is full of students who are bright, full of energy, and eager to learn. Some of them have never been to school before, and they are super excited to learn to read and write.

My students have many different levels of ability starting on day one.

Some are ready to start reading, and some don't know the letters of the alphabet.

The parents I have are supportive of their child's education, but many of them don't speak English and they are unable to read to their child at home. Many parents have limited funds to be able to provide their children with reading materials at home.

My Project

I plan to use these books in my classroom during our literacy meeting. I will read one book a week and we will read the book together multiple times in that one week time period. We will learn several new vocabulary words from each book. My students will retell the stories orally and through dramatic play.

After our weekly study of one particular book is finished, the book we studied that week will be placed in the classroom library.

The students will be able to read the books over and over again during silent reading time or during literacy centers.
