My Project

I am currently a fully self-contained preschool special education teacher in a Title I elementary school in Hawaii. More than half of my students are from low income families. I have preschool students with various disabilities including autism, speech delays, motor delays and developmental delays.

I want to encourage my students to love learning and to love learning through books.

My students love listening to stories read aloud to them. On a daily basis we have a time set aside for story time. On most occasions we base our story on a theme of the week. After story time we include various other activities such as an art project and various lessons.

Providing fun opportunities with books will help my students understand that reading is exciting!
