it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students love to read -- they devour books like Dog Man and Diary of a Wimpy Kid. They love graphic novels and non-fiction texts. We are lucky to have a school library that provides access to high-interest books that excite students. However, as much as it is important to provide students with beautiful, exciting books, it is equally important to provide them with texts at their individual reading level that will push them to grow as readers.
My students need more reading practice with books at their independent and instructional level that allow them to practice vital literacy skills.
Over half of my students are currently reading below grade level and need access to books that will stretch them to grow as readers. Your contribution will provide my classroom with a differentiated literary environment that will give students the tools they need to be on grade level by the time they move to fourth grade.
