My Students

I teach at a Title I elementary school that is over 80 years old. We lack many of the modern technologies of today's world. Over 95% of my students receive either free or reduced lunch.

My students put in a lot of effort to attend my school.

It is a medical magnet school so they ride a bus for over an hour to get to our school servicing students from all over the community including military families. We only have about 250 students so we are small and don't have the resources that a larger school might have. Most of my students are free or reduced lunch, come from all over the district and include military students.

My Project

Most of my students come from high poverty. While my students work hard to come to school each day, they don't always get the encouragement from home that they can learn and that education is important.

These books can change my students' lives.

With the use of story, children learn and understand things they otherwise would not learn. These books about the growth mindset, determination, perseverance, and never giving up will help them understand the attitude they can have about themselves and about learning. And their attitude can be their altitude. The books can literally change their lives.

I am a former school counselor so I know how necessary it is for the teacher to work on developing their character and I am so excited to be able to share these life changing stories with my students.
