My Students

My students attend a public elementary school in northern California. The majority of my students are English language learners that come from low-income families with little support at home. Despite the fact that many of my students face challenges, both inside and outside of the classroom, they are enthusiastic about learning.

My students enter the classroom with big hearts and open minds, always ready to learn.

I strive to create an environment where my students feel comfortable enough to engage in the learning process. I want to provide my students with high interest materials to help them have the courage to participate and connect with the learning process.

My Project

My class is in need of class sets of books to participate in novel studies. Through these novel studies my students will practice their reading fluency and comprehension skills in a variety of ways. This will also be an opportunity for a shared reading experience in our classroom.

I want to expose my students to books that teach them positive life skills and traits to build character.

While reading these novels, my students will have discussions on what it means to be a strong community member, classmate, and friend. I hope to foster a life long love of reading for my students though meaningful literature.
