My Students

My students are an eager bunch who show up each day of distance learning on time and ready to learn. They actively participate in class and have enjoyed interacting with each other in breakout rooms in the last few weeks. Watching the joy on their faces when we share a good book is a highlight for me. Seeing them laugh out loud brings me so much joy, even from a distance!

Perhaps one of my greatest tasks as an educator is to help each student to feel connected and valued in our classroom and world.

One way we create this culture of acceptance is through read aloud​ and discussions. I'm hoping to add some great books to our classroom library where students can see themselves reflected in the pages of a book or see into the world of someone who is different than them as well as bring a smile to their face!

My Project

While we aren't together in the classroom, sharing books together has helped to bring us closer. It brings me such joy to look at my student's faces on my computer screen and not only see them engaged, but laughing and full of joy. This is something I wasn't sure would be possible during distance learning, but it's been so fun!

Feeling connected to each other, even while we are apart has been a highlight of this year so far.
