My Students

I work in a Title I school in Georgia. I work hard to provide resources for my students. Sometimes we need extra help, but my students are worth it and more.

My students are curious about the world we live in.

I try to encourage this learning by making them question what they see and how they could be problem solvers to fix or answer those questions. Having students answer problems and work with others is a rewarding process that should be encouraged in this world.

My Project

We are in a time where social/emotional learning and being accepting of one's self and others is so important. We live in a world where conflict, anxiety, and tension are so common. Teaching students to be supportive of each other and themselves is what is needed in the classroom in order to help students academically.

With the addition of these books in my classroom, I hope to start the conversations about social/emotional learnings with my students in a fun way while promoting literacy.

In first grade, we are required to teach how to find the central message in a story. With these new books, I can teach that standard while making it relatable to them.

This also gives me a way to teach my students social/emotional skills digitally, since I am not there to talk them through their problems. It is very common in a first-grade class to have students who get upset or interrupt others. By showing these books to my digital students, they can go back to these books for solutions.
