Help me give my students a great experience with reading this year! These books are mostly written by contemporary authors whose works students have gravitated to in recent years.

My Students

I will be teaching at a brand new public school . My students are entering their 8th grade year and are anywhere between developing readers and English honors students. For my developing readers, I want to make sure that I have a wide variety of high-interest books that will turn them onto reading.

The more topics and genres I can put on my classroom shelf, the better chance a student will have a positive and memorable experience with reading.

My Project

I'm determined to provide my students with some high interest and exciting books this year! All my students are in 8th grade-- a crucial time to decide whether one enjoys reading or not. Some students won't realize they enjoy reading until they find a topic that speaks to them or about which they have genuine interest. I've had students turn their nose up at countless books until they met "the one" and then couldn't put that book down. Every book I can add to my library helps increase the chances one more of my students will walk away from 8th grade with a positive experience with reading. Help me reach my goal of $300 worth of new books!
