As a teacher in a rural town supported by a state university, I see a diverse blend of students. Some are native to our state, while others, visiting from halfway around the world, are enrolled with us while their parents work as visiting scholars. Many languages and cultures are represented in my middle school of almost 900 students.
Reading and literacy skills bind us together.
Together, we read popular young adult books and classic literature. We write about our experiences and our reactions to what we read. It is through these interactions that we learn that, maybe, we are not so different after all.
My Project
Thanks to thoughtful donations, my classroom library continues to grow. This is very exciting! A well-stocked library allows me the opportunity to cater to many students' reading needs and interests. Some students, however, become very overwhelmed by fully-stocked shelves. They just don't know where to look! A mobile book truck could solve this problem.
A book truck would be used as a mobile display unit where I could organize or highlight books by theme, category, or interest, allowing new or promoted titles to stand out from the crowded shelves and be located easily by students.
By making your donation for this mobile cart, you are supplying me a physical way to promote book titles for students.
