My Project
Since the recent cellphone ban, students have started coming back to the library and reading more. I want to build on this momentum by continuing to offer books that meet their needs in meaningful ways--both emotionally and intellectually.
Many of the books on my list are replacements for our most popular books that have been either lost or damaged beyond repair.
These are the books that students hear about and come to the library to borrow. Once they're here, my co-librarian and I can usually "sell" them on another great book or even better... a whole new series.
I've also included some new titles that can support our students on their personal growth journeys. For example, there are a few books about journaling and how it can be used as a tool to help process thoughts and feelings and to build self-awareness. I’ve also added a few books on crocheting and sewing since we have a group of students who are interested in starting a crocheting club during lunch to connect with others who want to learn or share their skills.
Overall, books are a tool for growth, connection, and well-being, making them a crucial part of fulfilling a person’s intellectual, emotional, and social needs. Your help with this grant request would make a significant difference in the lives of our students by giving them access to books that they love and to the ones they need. Thank you!
