Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In my counseling office, books are more than just stories — they’re lifelines. My students come from a low-income community where challenges are a daily reality, and positive role models can feel out of reach. Many of them have not yet had the opportunity to see themselves reflected in literature, or to explore stories that offer hope, resilience, and the power to make a difference.

I’m building a library centered on racial justice, inclusion, LGBTQ+ rights, disability awareness, and the beauty of embracing our differences.

I want to provide books that affirm who my students are — and who they can become. These books will spark critical conversations, broaden perspectives, and offer encouragement during difficult times.

From memoirs of people living with disabilities, to novels about LGBTQ+ youth finding their truth, to stories of young activists standing up for justice — each requested book will serve as a mirror and a window. By giving my students access to diverse, empowering stories, I hope to ignite motivation, empathy, and self-worth.

Thank you for believing in the power of stories. Your support will help foster empathy, identity, and hope in young people who need it most.
