My Students

I see our students as the little caterpillar from the story "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" written by Eric Carle. Preschool is the first school experience for our students and they come to us excited to learn and grow. As we teach them new concepts and they experience new themes and academic concepts, they continually grow into beautiful butterflies, ready and prepared to fly into kindergarten.

Our class consists of 20 students from diverse backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses.

We service students identified with specials needs, students with English as their second language, and students who are peer models.

Our school is located in the urban school district of Cleveland, OH where 100% of our students are on free or reduced meals.

My Project

A child's brain develops 90% by the time they are 5 years old. Early education in preschool brings learning experiences to our 3-5 year olds through a variety of experiences. Books play an essential role in a early childhood to bring knowledge and information both through fictional and non-fictional books.

The changes that occur in nature and seasons is a very abstract concept for our preschoolers to understand. By bringing in stories to read to our students and let them explore help them to conceptualize what they will see outside in nature. Once we get to read our new book about seasonal changes, we can get out and explore in the real world as our beautiful planet goes through these breathtaking changes.
