My Project

I teach a diverse group of 7th grade students from all kinds of backgrounds and with all kinds of talents and interests. As the year is winding down and rounds of testing begin, it's imperative to keep kids engaged.

A wide variety of books to read and snacks to keep kids' energy and motivation up will go a long way!

Looking at the books in my classroom library, I notice that I have very few books in verse and not a whole lot of nonfiction. Although this project will only scratch those surfaces, we've got to start somewhere! The titles requested here were selected with variety in mind, as well as an emphasis on representing diverse voices.

I don't think I need to explain the importance of food for kids-- even the most reticent learner may be enticed by the right snack or treat! And for our kids who may not get enough to eat, the importance of having food available goes without saying.
