Books: Read, Read, Read!

My students need books for a classroom library that spans reading levels from third to seventh grade, in order to have a selection of books to read in class.

My Students

I am eager to learn more about my students as I begin a new job teaching Literacy and Social Studies this fall. My students are from a predominantly rural and suburban area in Wisconsin. All of the students will be new to middle school and from many different elementary schools. I'm sure they will be excited and nervous to become middle school students, but it is my goal to make them all feel part of a tight-knit and supportive community.

My Project

A large selection of engaging books on hand in a classroom library, helps encourage students to read. As a literacy teacher, my goal is to help students establish a solid foundation in reading. This fall, I will begin teaching at a new school. Although it is cliche, I know that in fifth grade, many students do judge a book by its cover. The previous teacher left behind a number of old, "well read" books in my classroom.

I hope that I am able to update and refresh the books in my classroom.

I plan to use the library to create interest in book groups and hook students with a good book in order to increase their reading stamina.
