Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a Title I school. Most of my students come from low-income households where English is not the first language. Several of them have lived in the United States less than 2 years and are acclimating to American culture as well as American school. They receive free and reduced-price breakfast, lunch, and food bags as part of our Title I program.

These students are eager to learn and impress me every day.

They come from diverse backgrounds and all bring different academic and cultural assets to the classroom. In addition to these diversities, they share curiosity for learning and the ability to bless the world starting with their own community.

My Project

These items will all benefit the students in my classroom in a different way. I am very excited about the re-usable dry erase pockets to make print-outs reusable and engage students in games using their dry erase markers. Items like the dry erase markers and pencil sharpener can replace and replenish what is currently in my classroom. There are lots of books on this project. Many of them are some of my personal favorite and I will use them to help pass my love of reading to my students! The prizes (stickers, fidgets, etc.) will also be used as external motivators for my students as part of our "prize jar" for behavior management.
