My students are from low socioeconomic backgrounds in a small, neighborhood school. They are in a high risk, Title I school. They receive free breakfast and lunch, and we have many who participate in the Backpack Buddies Program.
Every day, these students walk into the classroom eager to learn.
They live in the digital age and embrace each new form of technology. We endure budget cuts every year, leaving the students to go without many resources that aid their success.
My Project
The books I am requesting will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. The classroom library is a place students really enjoy exploring. They can peruse through the selection and choose one that interests them. They can take it to their seat or find a quiet place in the room to read during our assigned reading time. I enjoy reading to them. It's the perfect time to help them establish a bond with me as a teacher. My students love science and animals. They will love learning all the amazing facts from the Science Spin magazines. The workbooks can be used as an additional resource for class work or homework.
