My Students

One of my favorite Dr. Seuss quotes is, "You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax, all you need is a book." I truly believe that fostering a love of reading is a gateway to take children's minds wherever they wish to go!

I want to nurture a love for reading in my students that will allow them to see life is filled with endless possibilities and outcomes.

My students are eager to learn and grow. They have faced the challenges of distance learning head on and come to class every morning with smiles on their faces. As I prepare for their return, I want to provide them with a library full of places to go, a library full of amazing adventures!

I have 19 enthusiastic first graders! They are from diverse backgrounds and represent many different ethnic/cultural groups, speak multiple languages, and come from varied economic levels. They work hard, are inquisitive, and energetic. Our school focus is to close the achievement gap for all students, promote their learning with standards-based instruction that maintains rigor, while meeting the needs of all students and ensuring that they are on grade level by the completion of 3rd grade.

My Project

As a relatively new teacher, my library could use a boost! It is sparse and needs more exciting titles. Help me grow my library by filling it with first grade favorites that are sure to entice new readers like my students.

Piggie, Gerald, the Old Lady and the Mouse and his cookie help new readers want to pick up and read these titles over and over.

Not only do they help with reading fluency and stamina, but they foster creativity and critical thinking when combined with language arts lessons in class.
