This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is nestled in the artsy neighborhood of Silver Lake. My students are inquisitive, creative, and full of questions! They have been instilled a love of learning and welcome challenges that push them to thinking outside the box to find a solution.

They enter the classroom ready for whatever challenge awaits them to learn and grow as a scholar and as an individual.

Each day I invite my students to learn by incorporating a variety of learning strategies and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met. They are truly an incredible group, and they teach me lessons on a daily basis. I am grateful to have a group of learners who are excited to be the best scholars and who are ready to learn something new each day!

My Project

These books have been carefully selected to enhance our distance learning reading curriculum and allow them to see themselves in the different characters from these books.

As Grace Lin, a children's book author, once said, " A book can show you the world, but it can also show you a reflection of yourself." I want my students to see themselves reflected in more books that I read to them aloud and in books they find in our classroom library.

I want them to read these books and be proud of their culture and who they are as a people.
