Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a school librarian, I make a positive impact on all 600 students in our learning community. My campus is a Title I school, and all students receive free breakfast and lunch. They show up to the library bright-eyed and eager to communicate, collaborate, and learn. The library is the heart of the school and a safe place where students can build a love of reading. My students have a wide variety of learning styles and levels. Each one is unique, and everyone in the library respects each other. I care about my students, and they know it!

My goal is to encourage students to become independent and lifelong readers and learners.

At the library, students enjoy reading a good book, being innovators, problem solvers, and critical thinkers. I especially love that they are creative and try their best at everything that comes their way. I want my students to remember me when they grow up, so I make them feel welcome, safe, and important on a daily basis.

My Project

This school year has definitely been a different one. Currently, some students are at school in person, but most are still learning from home. One thing I am looking forward to is surprising my students with a brand new library next school year. Thanks to a grant, our library is getting a 21st-century renovation. Because of this, the library has to be completely cleared and a hand truck and dolly are important to assist with the move for my students.

Our library needs a flexible space that supports multiple learning and teaching styles to meet the diverse abilities and learning styles of its users.

The convertible hand truck and dolly will serve many purposes in the library and help keep a clean and safe environment for my students. It will be used to place boxes of books and other items from the library. It will also be used to bring deliveries to the library. Unfortunately, our school flatbed and dolly are in use most of the time. Having one in the library means I wouldn't have to ask to borrow one anymore. The electric balloon pump will be used by my library club students to inflate balloons in the library to decorate. Thank you for your consideration.
