My Students

I work in an urban school district with amazing students! I am trying to keep up with changes in education while enhancing 21st century skills.

My students have a wide range of knowledge!

Many students are reading above grade level, but many are also reading below grade level! When introducing electronics to students, it provides an engagement piece. Struggling readers may have not had success with books, so to engage these students in a new way is very exciting! My above grade level readers are also highly engaged. A group of students recently read about Anne Frank. They all wanted another story about the same topic. I searched on my own NOOK I use in the classroom, and within minutes they were engaged and reading the new book!

My Project

Nook tablets are highly versatile! Not only can students download books, but they also can be used for APPS in the classroom. I have my own NOOK in the classroom. I found a non-fiction science APP. I use it to collect data with my intervention students. The data shows our students struggle in this genre, so this app is critical for students in my classroom! Also, when hooked to WI-FI, students can search the Internet, finding fact and definition for unknown words.

My school is a LEVEL 1 school.

We just earned this status moving up from a level 3 school. There are only 3 other schools in my district with this status! I am very proud of my school and my students! I want to keep pushing them and provide any and all opportunities for them! I thank you in advance for your help with this venture!
