Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a second grade teacher with 15 curious and hard-working students who come in each morning with smiles on their faces, eager to learn. I love their willingness to try new things and learn from their mistakes. They love hands-on activities that make them think outside of the box. My hope for my class is to give them resources and unique experiences to help them grow into good students and good people. Given this is only my third year teaching, my classroom is lacking many resources and games that I need to support my students.

My Project

In my classroom, we love to read - chapter books, seasonal books, fiction and nonfiction. Each month or unit, I like to display mentor texts in the front of my room for students to borrow and reference. Students get so excited each month when I switch out the books. Currently, my books are displayed on a cardboard bookshelf and it's not sturdy enough to hold the books. With a new beautiful floor bookshelf, I'll be able to showcase new texts and let students borrow them without fear of the bookshelf breaking.
