This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I had been teaching remotely last year, and couldn't wait to get back into the classroom in the fall! Our students have been so resilient, patient, and hardworking throughout the pandemic; it's incredible what they have overcome!

Our 2nd grade classroom just outside Denver has an array of language backgrounds, socioeconomic backgrounds, and students who have returned this year from both in-person learning and remote learning during the 2020-21 school year!

Each student brings a different perspective, varying background knowledge, and experiences to share. Our classroom community thrives on respect and we take time each day to learn from one another.

My Project

Our classroom library is growing and thriving! It's been incredible to share so many books with my students, ranging from biographies to mindfulness to season changes and Mo Willems wit.

The books in this set discuss love and kindness as we near Valentine's Day, the quiet and magic of snow and hibernation, and the perseverance and integrity of characters that students can relate to.

As we read these books together, we will be able to have rich discussions and share deeper level thinking that will carry our lessons into other subjects and in real life, as well.
