Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Give my students a strong foundation in their home language of Spanish so as to facilitate their learning English.

Our Title I, neighborhood school is 97% Hispanic and 80% English Language Learners.

Students receive a free breakfast and most receive a subsidized lunch. We need many more Spanish language resources to help our youngest students read in their native language as a preface towards reading in English.

My Project

These early reading books in Spanish will open our youngest students to the joys of reading in their native language. They will help build confidence in that language so that our teachers might steadily begin to introduce English proficiency on a solid linguistic foundation.

Literacy in Spanish and progress towards literacy in English is the most important priority for our Spanish-speaking students.

With the Early Reading books in this project, our students will have a better chance to make a positive contribution to themselves, their families, and our society.
