This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This pandemic has been a challenge for us all and my students are no exception. Being a part of a community with limited resources, especially during this pandemic, has created so many obstacles for my students to be academically successful.
I call my class the Fabulous 5th Graders because they are indeed quite Fabulous!!
They have persevered through so many struggles, aside from the current pandemic. Regardless of their current situation, they are enthusiastic young scholars who are beating the odds!
My Project
Distance Learning has taught us all a lot about all of the technological tools that are available to us. I am so grateful for the ability to access reading materials on various websites so that my students still have access to great stories!
However, there just is nothing quite like holding a book in your hands, feeling the pages turn, and losing yourself in the story.
And I think so many of us are feeling the effects of so many hours looking at a screen. These books will not only help advance my students' abilities to comprehend stories on grade-level (with instructional support), but they also will provide the opportunity to escape the pressures of our current time as they experience reading in these tangible books. I can't wait to give my students their books! (It's a surprise!!!
