This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is an elementary school that services students from TK to 5th grade. We are located in the middle of a diverse and dense urban population. We are part of a bilingual community learning in a dual language classroom. My students are full of energy and eager to learn therefore I'm always looking for ways to keep them focused and ready to learn.

Our school is located in the heart of Los Angeles a few miles from downtown Los Angeles, a thriving city.

We are a Title I school that serves low-income families from different cultural backgrounds. Books are an essential tool for learning about diversity.

My Project

There's always room in a classroom for books and every student should have access to an abundance of books. Student choice is essential in building a reading lifestyle and towards becoming life long readers.

As bilingual learners my students are learning in two languages: English and Spanish.

Spanish text isn't always easy to find but it is important in supporting a bilingual classroom. The TIME FOR KIDS Grade 5 Spanish Book Set requested will support Common Core instruction and reading development. These books will also support the development of the Spanish language. Most importantly students will have more choice in quality books to support evidence based learning through informational text. There's a big push to find evidence through reading and provide evidence in writing. Informational text are a great resource for these learning strategies. When you think of essential learning supplies books are always and will always be a top priority.
