My Students

My students are asking for books about fish and soccer. They are also crazy about their favorite author, Dav Pilkey!

My students live in a high poverty area of Washington State.

They typically perform below grade level on standardized tests. My goal is to change that! My students are actually asking for these books by name! My students need books that are interesting to them.

My Project

These books are wonderful! Our current favorite author, Dav Pilkey, writes hilarious books for kids with funny illustrations and dialog. My students are also really interested in learning about fish and their favorite sport: soccer! These books will entice even the most reluctant reader.

My students are reading, on average, well below grade level.

I need to get them reading right away! The best way to reach reluctant readers is through books they are interested in- and these books will fit the bill!
