This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Hola! I am the proud teacher of the best Dual Language Bilingual Kindergarten class that ever was! This wonderful group of 21 Spanish dominant students are working twice as hard learning half the time in English and half the time in Spanish, and do so wearing their very best smiles!
During these very challenging times, it has been difficult for me as their teacher to keep consistent, insightful and engaging instruction and learning.
I am in need of bilingual books and resources that I can use to devise a cohesive and engaging remote learning curriculum that will help my students continue to soar both in English and Spanish.
My Project
This collection of Spanish books can help me build thematic or author studies units. Through a combination of live and video recorded lessons, I can engage my students with familiarity and continuity, while also presenting new materials in an accessible manner.
Most of my students and their families are Spanish dominant, having materials with which parents can also engage with is not only good practice, but also necessary at a Kindergarten level.
I can present the information in both English and Spanish, to help the students, and often their parents, to build a stronger bridge between the two languages. Many of the books selected, I have the English version, having the Spanish versions will create an abundance of ideas and opportunities for learning.
