My Project
My students are a bright, inquisitive, and active group in the Montessori program at the Detroit Public Schools Community District. These books and educational puzzles have been selected to help students identify different emotions they may experience.
Explicitly learning about emotions allows students to develop a vocabulary to help them deal with different emotions and situations within their lives.
We strive to give them tools to problem solve when tricky emotions arise. These books will be in our classroom's peace area. Here students have a space to quietly reflect or speak with a friend when they want to resolve a conflict. Learning to develop skills of self understanding, self-control, and conflict resolution in the early elementary grades will help them understand themselves and others throughout their lives.
