My Project

I am apart of the attendance committee at my school. We are striving to meet the national goal of having less than 30% chronically absent students for the entire school year. Currently we are at 27.9% chronic absences, as opposed to 38.5% the same time last school year. Some of our efforts are thanks to incentives like "Everyone Receives a Book Day."

A book-filled home encourages a culture of reading for enjoyment and talking about books.

On December 2, 2024, we hosted our first "Every Receives a Book" incentive. The criteria was simply attending school after a week long break. There were so many smiles as students entered our school building, knowing they were going home with a book. Our attendance percentage was 91% on December 2, 2024, as opposed to 88.5% last year after the same week long break.

We would like to host our second "Everyone Receives a Book" incentive, the day after our 2-week winter break. The books will placed in our book vending machine. Students will be provided a token to select a book to take home.
