My Students

I teach a fun, active group of 25 second graders. They love to learn and work together. In second grade, we learn a lot of new skills every day. These students are eager to learn and apply their skills every day!

My students are on a variety of levels in the classroom.

They need engaging ways to practice the skills they are missing. My students that are reading above level need engaging ways to challenge their brains!

They need new and exciting experiences to keep them engaged in our curriculum. I like to provide them with experiences that will immerse them in the learning and teach them about the world we live in.

My Project

My student's need high quality picture books to develop a love of reading and learning. Everyone remembers the time they gathered around the carpet and listened to a picture book being read to them. They remember how they felt, they remember what teacher was reading it, and they remember how much that person loved reading. This helps kids develop positive feelings toward reading. They connect the feelings of listening to the story to reading in general.

Children who love to read, are better readers.

These books will help the children want to read. They will help develop this love of reading. These books will also provide student's an opportunity to see themselves in the book. All the characters represent students who are in my classroom. They will see children who look like them doing amazing things! This will also help develop the love of reading. When children love to read, they will do it more often.
