My Students

This year, I will be teaching 23 fourth graders, some of whom are meeting for the first time. Our school is taking part in a unique school pairing model, and on our campus we will only have 3-5 graders. Some of the students will be new to me as well, and others who are former students of mine. Regardless of if they are new to one another or not, I look forward to the classroom community that will be built and the learning that will take place.

My Project

Having a variety of new books such as 39 Clues, The Watsons Go To Birmingham, and classics like Anne of Green Gables and Mr. Popper's Penguins will give my avid readers new opportunities. Many of my students are making their way (quickly) through our class library. I have noticed what types of texts are checked out the most and tried to add more to those genres.

Adventure and mystery will abound with Geronimo Stilton, characters by Rick Riordan, and all of the others.

I also know many will be excited to see the non fiction books that I have selected. My students will be so excited to know that new books are soon on the way. I love seeing so many engaged readers and having the problem of not enough books!
