Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My high school students can be described as 'full-of-spark', inquisitive, resilient, and most importantly, bilingual (Spanish-English). They have a super power and that’s the one of knowing more than one language. They are proud of their Hispanic/Latino culture and rich backgrounds.

They work hard every day, not only to discover new aspects about their life and culture, but to give meaning to their past and future, to create and develop their own identity.

My students are advocates for social justice and are recipients of the Seal of Biliteracy.

My Project

Having access to books is one of the most important aspects in a classroom. Books are vital tools when it comes to reaching biliteracy in the twenty-first century. Due to only being in our second year as a High School, my students have been missing from reading novels and stories in Spanish that so often spark rich conversations. If given the opportunity, these books will bring their Spanish acquisition to another level.

Having a variety of reading levels and genres will give them a place to start and explore.

These books will be a great start to our Spanish Library in High School.
