Books for Young Brains

My students need books, books, and more books! We need 26 sets of leveled books and chapter books for our classroom library.

This project is fully funded

I teach first grade at a charter school in a very low income neighborhood in New York. We all work hard to provide our students with everything they deserve, sometimes we need a little help.

My students love to read, but many have read every book in our classroom. They need more books to keep them enthusiastic about reading. Some students need more leveled books and some need chapter books that will catch their interest.

These books will help to keep my students excited about reading. The leveled books will allow us to have guided reading groups, and help students to read a variety of books at their level without having to argue over who had which book first. The chapter books will provide some novelty to those students who have already read every book in our classroom library and are hungry for more.

My students deserve these books! You will be not only helping them to learn to read, but also helping to foster a love of reading that will continue to grow long after first grade.
