Help me give my students a class set of various books for us all to enjoy together. These books will broaden their understanding of the world and grow their appreciation for it as well.

My Project

Reading good quality books as an entire class is a top priority for me next year. I want to bring different worlds to my classroom whether is is different communities, cultures or just a different imagination place we can all go to together. Sharing in these experiences helps bring literature alive to the students, and excites them about learning. Discussions during the readings are much more vibrant and meaningful to the students than a lesson and worksheet they have no desire to do well on. Bringing different views also allows for students to be exposed and broaden their understandings of the world around them. Also, seeing students that these books are mirrors for and how they open up, truly builds a deeper community within the classroom. We are a small school district, and these students will likely graduate with the same group. Allowing them, while they are still young and accepting of new worlds and communities, a chance to deepen their connections long-term.
