This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from Galena Park, part of the greater Houston area. We are a Title I school, which means that the vast majority of them come from low socioeconomic homes, where school supplies and books may be hard to come by.

Despite these challenges my students are eager to learn, and more than ready to put forth their best effort.

When I see the smiles on their faces and the energy they bring to my classroom, I know that our country's future is bright!

My Project

These books will be read both at home and in the classroom. It is easy to recommend books for strong readers, but many of my students read at a lower level than is average for their age. This makes finding good books for them difficult, because they need books on a lower level for practicing their reading, yet they need books about things that are of interest to children their age.

I believe collections Cam Jensen, Frog and Toad, Zelda and Ivy, and Commander Toad will be perfect for my struggling readers.
