it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My second-grade classroom is a vibrant, hands-on learning environment where students can explore and become life-long learners. I have 22 wonderful, fun, loving students, who are learning two languages: English and Spanish. They come to school ready to learn each day. They are quick to ask questions, participate, and jump into exploring and discovering new things. They will learn to discover, explore with confidence, and develop a lifetime love of learning.
My Project
In this project, I am requesting different types of series of books for my students. Our new reading unit will push our students to analyze series fiction text to dive deeper into exploring characters and the author's craft. Students will be challenged to apply strategies across books in a series and make strong comparisons. Students will sharpen their ability to talk about the books they are reading and grow ideas through their book talks.
My students are always eager to read and ready to join their book clubs and conservation about their reading.
The series books that were chosen are based on my students' interests. They love to share ideas and have debates. Having interesting books is one of the critical factors in helping children become lifelong readers. Seeing students' eyes light up when they find a book they love makes teaching very worth it!
